Get on the good foot, my brotha!

So I apologize ... been a while since I Have had time to write, but after talking to one of my sisters yesterday - Here I go!

So ---- on the workout front.  I tried the P90X, but didn't feel like it was giving me enough cardio.  I love the great lifting workouts you get, definitely liked that part. But, still felt like I needed more cardio.  Going for another workout after work sounded like a great idea -- but it wasn't happening as easy as it sounded .. so we come back to that old nemesis, INSANITY.  This time, with a workout partner, we will get through it.  It's amazing how in less than 40 minutes, one can be made to feel like you had a 30 minute wrestling match and then shot 150 jump shots...  So today was day 2, and I feel a little sore, but expecting to be sore in the morning.  On the nutrition front -- haven't been terrible, but not great. However, sometimes in life you have to celebrate the small battles won in the war ... and resisting donuts and cinnamon rolls yesterday for breakfast and opting for fruit and a 1/2 bagel was definitely #winning ....

On the wedding front --- things are moving. have a reception spot picked out, finalizing menu, looking at limo/trolley service, honeymoon almost done, invitations coming shortly ....

And... most of all I found a wedding planner ---

Listenin' to Gangsta Music...

So its been awhile, but I am still here. The P90X is going well, I feel the good effects already. I am down about 5-7 lbs, and definitely can feel the clothes getting a little looser.  This week is recovery week, so I have been going to the gym instead, since I started a week later than my workout partner.  But I definitely feel much better than I have.

This last week of January I want to keep pushing and see if I cant get to the 10lbs lost or more for the month.  As far as my nutrition, I've been dong much better but honestly can do better.  There are a few of those "breakdowns" that I can definitely do without, and I am going to do better.

So I am always on the lookout for more music to listen to while working out.  At work or in leisure I have been listening to more jazz/r7b than anything -- but working out I need some rap... Not the 1/2 r&b, 1/2 rap variety --- but some ignorant, bass-thumping - adrenaline infused music.  Below is the stuff I have been listening to in rotation :

Jeezy - TM 103
Ace Hood - The Statement 2
Red Cafe - Hell's Kitchen
T.I. - F Da City Up
Jae Millz - Category 5
Meek Mill - Dreamchaser

And today I'm going to give Rich Forever another go -- but Just wasn't feeling it as much as other people ...

I welcome all suggestions ...

I'm out ------------

The Tipping Point ...

So it's Friday , finally Friday..... Well, my week has been pretty good working out so far, I'm definitely back in the groove of things.  I am already feeling better, and can feel the clothes feeling slightly (and i stress "slightly") looser, and overall feel much better.  The past few P90X workouts have been good, never thought I would ever do Yoga for 90 minutes , but it was good.  I wasn't able to do all of the moves, but just tried everything- and pushed myself to do the ones I could do as well as I could . This morning was the back and legs workout, and it was great also - probably 8 different variations of squats and lunges, and I did more pull-ups (assisted, but pull-ups, dammit!) than I have ever done .. So looking forward to the Karate session tomorrow morning.

Hope your workouts are going as well as mine, I have been eating fairly well, I must admit I did have a few donuts earlier in the week (have to entertain your friends right? Can't have them eat all the Krispy-Kremes, right?)

But aside from that , been pretty good.  If I have something sweet, its in moderation - and definitely no fried foods.  If you are serious about losing weight you have to understand that "dieting" usually doesn't work -- it has to be a lifestyle change. You don't have to cut out the terrible stuff completely, but you have to seriously moderate .... cutting out just coca-Cola, but still drinking Sprite ain't gon' cut it!! maybe reduce your intake from 12 cans a week to 6, then 4, then ... you get the point. I also try to think that if its fried, stay away from it --- this includes -- fried chicken (duh) , french fires, donuts, bagels (can have in moderation), potato chips
(Lay's makes fairly good Baked alternatives)

etc... One thing I have tried is making Stir-Fry -- pan-searing is way better than deep frying , and it's a great way to mix your veggies and protein

Well hope this was helpful, enjoy the clip and have a great weekend...

( If you haven't noticed by now, I love all types of music. And this sista here is ultra-talented check her out)
